This is so wow. I know. Oh my god. Not I'm getting shot. Oh my god. For real. Okay. Welcome to the show. Welcome to Let Me Walk You Out, the podcast. And this is so exciting. I'm so excited. I'm so sorry. I don't even know. I don't be sorry. I'm excited too. Okay, cool. Well, we are your podcast hosts. My name is Stephanie. I'm Kendall. And Let Me Walk You Out is a podcast for women navigating self-growth, alignment, womanhood, and all the things. So we're so excited to be here. We're so excited to finally be starting. This has been like talking about this for like maybe like a year. Yeah, a year, literally. About like on the dot because my Q2 last year, my bingo card had start podcast with Kindle. Yeah. And so finally I can like check that out. Check it out. A year later, but like, hey, we're still taking it together. Some videos just take time. You don't want to rush something. A hundred percent. A hundred percent. Every last minute that we spent building up to this was very worth it. Yeah. I feel like we got very serious like last month, two months ago. I feel like it was like January. Yeah. Whenever we did our um our work from the office bar. Yeah. And we had a let me walk you out moment. Yeah. When we were walking through the city, and we're just like, you know what? Actually, let's get serious. Yeah, let's get serious for real. Like, I feel like we've had enough life and development and experience to know now how to better, you know, guide people in a way. And it's not even about guiding people, it's more so just being a space for women to like actually come and feel seen and connected and have honest conversations about what life is actually like instead of especially at this age, too. Like, I just turned 25. Yeah. You're I'm almost there. I don't want to, you know, put it on you. Now I'm 24 years old, so it's it's a really good time. Like we're figuring it out, but then we've lived a little bit, so I feel like we can speak to certain things. Very, very true. So I mean, with that, we might as well just get into like what this podcast even is and what we're trying to do. So to give you a little context, kind of on who we are, right? Because you're probably like, okay, you're Stephanie and you're Kendall, but like, who are you? Who are you besides that? Um, but you want to go first or you want me to go first? I'll go, girl. Okay. Yeah, so I'm Kendall. Um, I am born and raised in Atlanta. A T L. I'm so ATL. Get in there. Y'all like she's not actually related. That's the way she just said that. I'm so ATL. Girl, what? Come on. It's okay. But um, yes, I uh am a Libra. Let's start there. Yes, T. I was born um in the best month September. I wasn't I wasn't even saying debatable in my head. I was like, okay, September's again. You remember. We're getting so sidetracked. For real though. But anyway, yes, and I um attended Howard University. H you. H you, you know. Um, shout out to my bison. Right. And then I also attended USC. Um and I studied media management at Howard and PR and advertising at USC. So I'm a communications girl down. Yeah. And we'll get more into that. But um currently now I work in sales marketing for an ad tech company. So I make all of the very fun, exciting technology about the future of audio advertising sound sexy basically. Like, I mean, a lot of it is so um technical and it can be hard to understand. And so I just take very, very long briefs that we get and I make them fun into nice little decks and pitches and one pages and turning it into like events and connecting with real creators um in the space. And so I think that's why starting this podcast is so cool because I spend a lot of time working with people that use our technology to fuel their podcast, and now I have a podcast. Yeah, so I feel like I'm thinking about it from a creator point of view, but also the business side of it, which is what I do day in and day out. So I love it. That's you know, that's a little bit about me. Awesome. Yeah. Also, let's note she said USC, and I don't want you guys thinking South Carolina. We're talking about Southern California. Okay, comes to the real USC, that's Southern California all day, every day. So I'm a bison and I'm a Trojan, and I'm proud to be both. Yeah, very proud to be both. I had to differentiate because I don't want y'all thinking that we over here on the East Coast. She went West Coast, Coast. Okay, don't play. Do not play at all. And uh so I am Stephanie. I am also born and raised here in Atlanta, Georgia. Um, I'm so ADL. Oh god. Cut that part out. No, cut it, cut it actually. But yeah, so I was actually born or like raised in the Southwold area, so like Fairburn, um, went to boarding school for high school called St. Mary's School in Raleigh, North Carolina, and then went, came back home-ish to University of West Georgia for college, and I got my bachelor's of I guess they call it business administration and marketing and management. So now I am pretty much working in marketing and management. Um, I am working full-time to or with a vision publications company. It was really a publications company, medical publications, but mainly working with vision brands. And so I make that, like what she said, look good. I mean, it's kind of like no pun intended, I guess, of making it look good. Yeah, yeah, it's basically helping. Um, I really work in the paid media part, so helping with boosted, sponsored posts, um, making sure that they reach their impression goals and things of that nature, but also helping with editorial content to make sure that the pages stay and remain healthy so that way it's not just literal publication of just straight up advertisements, like we still have what people come and doctors come to see on a daily basis. And outside of that, I'm very multifaceted because the day does not stop at 5 p.m., it continues actually. And my five to nine is running my own business, and I have different social media clients where I help manage their social media channels as well, which includes TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, uh, LinkedIn, even YouTube, and uh helping those brands to stay active, alert, and consistent on their social media channels. It ranges from a beauty brand to entrepreneurship and sales as well as podcasting. I also help another podcaster help manage her brand too, which is pretty cool. And I'm also managing my own personal brand. Uh, this is getting really long, guys. But she do it all for real. So, with my personal brand, I really love talking about travel lifestyle and personal development. Emphasis on travel and personal development, though, because those are, I feel like, two of my main favorite topics to talk about. Honestly, we could sit here and talk about travel all day long, and I would not be bored. I would actually be inspired and want to book a trip at the end of it. So that's why I love to do let's start talking about it. Yeah, actually, where are we going? Like, let's get into it, let's get that ball rolling. So that's who we are, and we are your podcast hosts, and we'll get a lot more into like who we are, what we do, and things like that in more episodes. But today we really just kind of wanted to get into the beginning of this, the beginning of the podcast, you know, like the beginning of the podcast, baby steps and and also how we met. Yeah, beginning of how we met. Exactly. So we are actually best friends. This is my best friend of gosh, oh my god. Um, we met 20 double one. Yeah, so that would be 2020, so 15 years. 15 years, 15 years. Wow, which makes me feel old. No, for real, because I didn't I never did the math up until now. Like, I did the math at 10 years and I was like, cute, and then 10 years was five years ago. Yeah. Well, but 15 whole years, so we go way back. And we actually met in middle school. Yeah, we are in the Atlanta area, born and raised, so we went to this middle school called the Ron Clark Academy. RCA was a very transformative part of our lives. Um, and yeah, I feel like ever since then we've just been locked in as friends, as sisters. Um almost like, yeah, like sisters, but almost like mentors to each other in some ways. Um, we pick each other up when we're down. I know you like again. The back of my hand, like I wouldn't know a sister. So um, yeah, I mean, like that's you know, we'll get more into how we actually met and more into the details, but you know, 15 years. Yeah, and it always feels like two, whenever we're going through something, we're kind of going through it at the same time. Yeah, but it's weird how we come to that conclusion. Like, we'll try and kind of work through it together alone, and then we talk and we're like, why don't we just-I should have been such a place we're going through the same thing, like it just makes you feel so much less alone, yeah, 100%. So, and I think that's why we're opening this up to just beyond be a podcast to be able to share that type of community with other people because it life is always doing a number, it's always doing something, but when you feel like you can talk to somebody or hear someone say something that you're like, okay, like actually I resonate with that. I resonate with that. I'm glad I'm not the only person who has been feeling that way or who has experienced this X, Y, Z. It always feels so good to be seen. Yeah. Especially if it's just one person, it's is it makes the world of a difference, especially in a life this big, you know? Yeah, amazing. So that's like who, what, so why, why we started this space? I guess we were kind of getting into that. Um, but yeah, I mean, it's just like honestly, I feel like we are very high performing women, and we've always been that way. I think since we met at RCA, it was a very high-performing type of a school. Yes. And then we went on to go to schools that we wanted to be ambitious, you want to do all these things, you want to go for to be the what do you call it, like the student body lead or president. There we go. The president. I'm like, why is it why am I clicking? You know what I mean? But stuff like that. And then you go off to college, you continue to pursue, you continue, you graduate college, you get your job, you continue to always something more, more, more. So there's one part of that, but then there's also the part where it's like, in between all of that, you're learning all of these lessons, you're experiencing so much. This is a podcast where we're just gonna be honest. Like, we're not sugarcoating anything. We are, yes, we're very accomplished and we've been able to experience a lot, but there's also a lot we don't know. Yes. And I think that's really the point is like to be able to be honest about those things, have a conversation about it, and in turn put us on a path to like not only heal something within ourselves and to give ourselves space to feel the entire range of how whatever we're going through at the moment, but then to put that out there and hopefully form a community around that. Yeah, a hundred percent. Help others along the way because like I keep saying, like, I feel like this is just so much bigger than us. And now, like, we have not now, like, we haven't had sisters of our own before, but like we still do have our blood sisters as well that we've been guiding and helping along the way. So to bring that community beyond blood into just like soul and friendship and things like that means a lot to have the opportunity to do, and now that we have the opportunity and the time, because I mean, before we were both over a thousand miles apart, still trying to we'll get into that too. Still wanting to, you know, be able to reach people in a way, but now, like, we're so close, and it's just the time is now, and there's no better time than now. Yeah, I'm glad that we have the opportunity to be able to do that, not only for ourselves, because this definitely is healing something in me, but also having the opportunity to do that for other people too means a lot. So exactly. So, this podcast will be weekly. Um, we'll release every Wednesday, and you can find us on Apple Podcasts, you can find us on Spotify, YouTube, or just wherever you get your podcast. Mm-hmm. Every Wednesday, because we know on Wednesday it's that midweek hump, okay? Oh, we made it a Wednesday. So every time you make it a Wednesday, you're gonna have a podcast from us to press play, okay? And that is our promise to you, okay? That is our promise to you. If it's not over that hump, it's gonna be it's gonna be something for you on Wednesdays to get you over that midweek hump because ooh, we Wednesdays can be tragedy. We I'm gonna need a two. I'm gonna need something to look forward to. Right, same. But yeah. I guess we can just really get into the topic of the week, which is our origin story. Yeah, we'll get more into how we met and how we're here now. How we're here now. So yeah, like I said, RCA. We met in middle school. Um, I don't actually remember like our initial meeting time that I ever spoke to you. I don't remember our exact origin, but I do remember there was a couple times where I like came up to you and just like, oh, she's like such a you were just so cute. Like, I just always wanted to just pinch her cheeks. Like, she was the most adorable middle schooler ever. Yeah, I think you told me that. I think the pinch in the cheek thing, I'm like, I've heard this before. Yes, you were like literally so adorable, and I loved your notes. So I was like, I have to be friends with this girl. That's enough reason. You know, and middle school, like that's it, that's all you need. You're cute, you're you can dress, you flight, you know, I'll rate you B BMS beyond my scale. It used to be so easy. Oh gosh. And then I remember we got to a point where you know we started inviting each other to like birthdays, and I feel like after that first birthday that you had invited me to, that was like it. That was it. And I think I can't remember if that was sixth or seventh grade, but I think it was sixth grade. We still have like the picture in our PE uniform. Is that sixth grade? I think that was sixth grade. Is there like a way to like can we put that on the screen? Yeah, if we could find that picture, we have I could find the picture. Yeah, we'll give it to y'all. I I it's swallowing a lot of pride right now to say we can put that on there, but we can do it. Wait, let me rethink. No, it's okay. We'll let you middle school. We were in middle school now, like this was um it was definitely giving middle school awkwardness for sure. But that's a cute picture though. We have other cute pictures that like are from that time period. And same from that weekend too, like us with like the crab leg. That's the same weekend? I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure the weekend. Yeah, because that was after we went to go get our nails done. Like was that was our first ever like Manny Petty. Yeah. And Cleopatra and Camp Creek. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yep. So that was like our that was like, I feel like our real origin story. Because I remember that night, like we had stayed up one of the nights we stayed up all night talking, and then the next night, because we had like ice cream, we were like watching a movie, and then the next night we fell asleep watching Frozen, and we fell asleep on the couch, and like I remember your mom had like just seen us on the couch. I think she like brought us a blanket or something. Oh, and I know it was so it was so pure, so innocent. See, let it go. Disclaimer, she has the memory. Yeah, I don't remember. She doesn't remember anything ever. I'm like experiencing this story for the first time with y'all. I'm like, wow, that was so. No, literally, her house, her living room, like her parents, like seriously. Wow. Her birthday, mind you. Mind you, like, where was I at? But I just remember, I don't know, my memory is like very high level. Like, I remember certain things with details. Yeah, I forget it, which is why I do like talking to you because I feel like very detailed remind me of the things. It's the little things, yeah, sometimes for me. Like the fact that it was my first Manny Petty, like yeah, that would obviously stand out, you know. So yeah, that was when I feel like it really clicked for us because we had so many like actual real conversations for a middle schooler, you know, it's only so much you could talk about for real. But like still like you know, somebody your age finally who can understand what you're going through, and somebody who's in the same situation as you, obviously, with us going to school together, too, and with how rigorous RCA was and the the need to be on, wipe me down. But I'm sorry, I had to, I was so sorry. No, we don't have to actually um but like the need to be on and be able to perform almost like all the time, and it's not like in a bad way at all. And I'm I'm not trying to make it seem like that was a bad thing um and put it in a negative light or connotation, but I mean it does kind of weigh on you a little bit, especially as like a what 12-year-old, 11-year-old, sometimes. So just being able to talk to somebody about that and them being at the same kind of like level as you as you and being able to communicate, but that was the first like real click, and after that, we were like inseparable, like we were besties, like you nobody could tell us nothing. It was always Stephanie and Kendall, like that's what I was gonna say. I was like, I just don't ever remember a time where like since I met you, yeah, it didn't give best friends, right? Which I love, me too, you know. I love when you have those relationships like that, though. Yeah, me too, yeah. And I also love that like we didn't really live that far apart from each other either. We didn't, yeah. Because I know RCA, since it was private, people would be really spread out. Like there was people coming from like freaking Lawrenceville, yeah, and that was a drive. Like Norcross and stuff. And we were maybe 10. We weren't that far 20 minutes. That helped a lot. Yeah, and I just you know, sometimes we would ride to school or ride from school together, and I would spend some time at your house. We'd do homework, quote unquote. Right. We ain't getting done done. Nothing getting done. Yeah, you know, it was the not the county. Exactly. Yeah, and then after middle school, after that, we just stayed in touch so well. Like, you know, sometimes relationships fade and they fade really easily, but I feel like we did a really good job of really trying to stay in contact and stay updated with each other, very much so, even if it was like even though we didn't talk a lot, you know. Looking back, like we would talk maybe once on the phone every couple of months, but it wasn't texting every day, it was updates, but the updates were meaningful, they were long, they were intentional, and we would actually take the time to talk to each other. And um, whenever I would come home, we would always spend time together. Like, it was never a time that I came home, even if it was just for a weekend that I wouldn't try and see you. So that was also really helpful too. Yeah, very much so because like you're family, so it's like if I'm gonna see my fam, I'm gonna see you. Yeah, yeah, where you at? Exactly. Yeah, I was gonna say, like, I feel like we said 15 years, but for like many, many years of that, we were not in the same place. We really were so crazy. Like, I don't I don't think, gosh. It was four years in high school, four years in college, and then the two years of your postgrad. Yeah. So what's that? 10? Yeah, like for the most part, wow you weren't living in the same place. That's so crazy. That's wild. And yeah, we still were able to keep a relationship and a bond that was very inseparable. That's how you know. Yeah. That's how you know. Like so much, like you know how they'd be like two peas in a pot. That's us. That's us. That's us. If Kittle ain't going, I'm not gonna do it. I'm not gonna endure this alone. That's actually how I am. And I feel like people laugh too, because they know that. Yeah. Like if you start backing out of something, I'd be like, actually. Actually, I'm gonna say something came in. Actually, it's not gonna work. Yeah, I do that. No shade, no shade at all. Trust and believe that it's like you see me. Sometimes you just need your person. Yeah. And it's just that simple. Exactly. And we stayed in contact through high school, through college, and I think college got more fun because now we're grown and now we're grown. We can actually come to like see each other. Yeah. I would go see her though. There's nothing to see in Carrollton. Like oh, yeah, we definitely have to get more into like where we went to school in a different episode. For sure. But yeah, we we got some stories. Definitely. Um okay, so we can get into our personalities at the time, like when we met. And then do you feel like it's changed? Do you feel like it's the same? Honestly, should we just describe each other's personalities or do you want to describe your own? Honestly, I think it'd be more fun if we described each other's. Each other's, right? Okay, I'll go first. Okay. Okay. Stuff to me is who I want to be when I grow up. Oh. You are who I want to be when I grow up. And it's always just been that way. Like, I feel like now you're a boss. Like, you get what you have to do done. It's a calendar, y'all can't see it. It's a calendar. It's another calendar. It's another calendar. I can't. It's a it's everything because she has a lot going on, right? So it's like, I feel like you've always been ambitious. But even in middle school, I just feel like you just had a certain like you just fill up a space. And There's a light about you that it's just like sunshine. It's like warm, it's happy. You're always happy. We had a teacher that had a nickname. Oh Lord. It was a lot of nicknames. It was a lot of nicknames. But you know the one I'm referring to in this context. It's because of my. Okay, I guess. One, two. You can't put it on. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Sorry. Okay, ready? One, two, three. Stephen Hand. Because I'm always laughing. Like, this is so funny. Oh, she's always laughing. Like all 32 shown at all times. You're gonna see that dimple. You are. You are gonna see that dimple. Stephan Han. And it was okay, Stephan Hanhan was like the major one. Yeah. And then Sunshine was another one. That was a nickname? Yeah, Mr. Walker always called me Sunshine. Isn't it crazy how I just said that? Yeah, I know. I totally forgot that that was a nickname. And then that one followed me to high school too. Like people started calling me Sunshine in high school too. Sunshine and then Hollywoods. That's just because it's just true. Yeah. Like, wow, that's crazy. I appreciate that. But yeah. But yeah, so I don't know. I feel like you you were a cheerleader. Mm-hmm. You were on the step team. We were on the step team together. Yes, we were. That was a formative experience as well. Oh god. We'll get into that later. Um, what else? What else was I doing? I was very, I like to be athletic. I was more of an athletic person for sure. That's something else too. I feel like you were just never afraid to like roll up your sleeves and just get involved in something. Even like sports and physical activity, yeah. Where other girls are like in the cut, like I'm the other girls, mind you. Like, like you like, you really like are just like, oh, let's just do it. Yeah. Um, so yeah, that's what I was saying. You're just dependable. You you don't you don't really judge people. Like, it feels like you can just kick it on your couch like we're doing right now, yeah. And just and just talk. Yeah. Like, and you know, I've always felt that way about you. I've always just felt like you were just fierce, determined, very much Aries. Very much so. Very much Aries. You can have a little tooth, you know. When it's time to have a tooth. I mean, sometimes it's it's warranted. But sometimes it's warranted. And I'm honestly, I'm at the point where it's like, if you got an attitude, I'm wondering what everybody else did. Because I'm on her I'm on her side. So why y'all piss her off? Why y'all piss her off? But now I'm pissed too, because don't piss her off. Exactly. So, yeah, that's what I would say. Like, I don't know, you were just always just so just fun to be around. Yeah, I feel like like you just made mundane moments just fun for me in middle school. And I feel like that hasn't changed. Like, we gon' we're gonna cut up no matter what. Yeah, we could be like in the jungle in a bad situation, and there's still gonna be some light, you know. You're gonna be in the cut, hitting the eight count, and make me laugh. I do be got some moves. Yeah, and maybe one day you gotta demonstrate, right? Maybe, maybe, maybe we'll have a like dance class or something. Maybe, because you got some moves for sure. Bro, I love to dance, I love to move. Yeah, well, I'll go for you now. So I do one of the main things I will say about her is though she is more reserved, it's very calculated. Like the way that you move is extremely diligent, calculated again, but you're very strategic about how you go through life, and I admire that about you as well. And I feel like you also have a very much so boss and maternal healing energy to you, but it's a little bit more on the reserve side, you're very much a leader in your life, and I've seen that even when we were in middle school, like in just the situations that we would be in, and even with your family, like you're very much a leader, and you're very much like the don't want to say eldest daughter, but I guess like you are the eldest daughter, but that's the energy that you give off in the best way possible. Though you were reserved and a little shy, um, I just think that's your personality as well. I mean, obviously, and RCA might not have been the most ideal environment for someone like you, but I think it taught you so much, not only about yourself, but also about other people, and you use that to your advantage all the time. Because I mean, though it might not have been the ideal environment, it taught us so many different life skills that you've been able to utilize, and your personality has not just stayed the same, but it has grown in a way that has been able to fit you in your calculatedness, and though you're reserved, the way that you move, and if you do approach someone, if you do um speak with someone or have a meeting or make a friend, I know that's a very intentional friendship for the most part. I mean, yeah, we all have our flukes, right? Like, there's people who we meet and we're like, oh, we thought they were cool, and then five days later, right? Wrap it up, right? Yeah, but you know, like you don't hang on to stuff that does not serve you, yeah. And I appreciate that about you. Like, if it's not working for you, you are quick to throw up the deuces and walk away. Yeah, and you definitely have that leadership energy in your life as well, and I just love the way that you lead, it's so feminine and it's so queen and goddess. It's just like I admire that so much. I'm just like, I need to be more like her in that aspect of my life because I feel like you have really honed in and been able to nurture your feminine side, and I really love that. Like, even down to the way that you get your nails done on a regular basis. I'm like, dang, like, I need to get that together. Like, and that's so crazy because I was literally just saying that like that just started in middle school. Yeah, because my mom had me up in that nail salon every two weeks. I love that though, but even before then, no, because it started when I was a kid, she used to paint my nails in my hands or my toes like every single week. Like my mom used to know how to do like little designs and stuff. Wow. Um, and then I just kept getting them done, maybe fell off a little bit like in middle school, but then high school, I started going again pretty regularly, and that's when I started getting into the acrylics. Yeah, felt grown. Yeah, you know my acrylic era. They used to be like if this now is here now, it was up here. She loved the long nails. I did. And my mom used to be like, you look crazy. And I would be like, You can't tell me. You can't tell me not to long nails, everything long, everybody gotta go through it. Every yeah, but you don't know, I wouldn't change a thing because I have fun at the end of the day. Exactly. Now I'm like, I gotta actually type writings to do. But back then it was like it was just the moment, yeah. So yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I was getting my nails done. I also really love how um I feel like when we have our conversations, and I feel like that was the same even back in middle school to now, we're able to go to a much deeper level, beyond the surface level. And that's one thing that I really appreciated about you in middle school and now, all the way up until now and beyond now, obviously, because some people you have conversations with and it just feels so surface level, yeah. And you keep trying to break that barrier and you keep trying to dig, and it just doesn't go beyond the surface level. Like, if there's grass, there's dirt, and then there's clay, like we really only get to the top of the dirt with some people, but I feel like we're in the clay getting to the water with you, you know? And so I feel like that is something that I've really really appreciated about you as well. And I don't know if that has much to do with your personality, but more so who you are as a person in general. But I think there's so much that we've learned from each other and incorporated like into our lives. Like, yes, there's just like even the way just down to like how much you value your family has like made me really take a step back and prioritize that more in my life too. But that's what I would say about you. Wow, crazy. That's what I would say about her because I feel like I don't know, I was always at your house at one point. Like, I feel like that was always a sleepover, that was COVID, yeah. But I was always over there, and I just loved like the family aspect and then seeing you in your family because that you very much have a role, like yeah, as much as any family has a lot going on, your whole family loves you and really looks up to you, yeah. And for you to not even be the oldest, but yeah, I feel like everybody has something to learn from you, speaks volumes, yeah, you know, and I would say the exact same thing about you, yeah. That's crazy. And that's why we're friends, exactly, and it all goes back to that, so yeah, I think like overall, we just see a lot of ourselves in each other, and yeah, at times like it does feel like we're living the same life, yeah. And I feel like at first when we met for a couple years, it always felt like we were going through the same thing, but then I can also see where we've taken different routes, but somehow there's still just this baseline level of like, I don't know, it's just and I think that baseline level is just womanhood, being a woman and still going through things personally, independently, aside from situations outside of yourself, you know. Like I could be dealing with whoever this friendship that's not working out well, or these people who are kind of doing me a little dirty. Aside from that, I'm still going through my own personal things, and that's what like we kind of relate on at the end of the day throughout those detours. Yeah, so I hope that makes sense. It made a lot of sense, yeah. Yeah, yeah. You know what's funny? I think sometimes too, like we like have like a language, like a code where we are making sense to each other, but I don't know if we're making sense to other people. Who cares? This is a podcast for us, right? Bump if you know what we're talking about, whatever. At the end of the day, in 10 years, I'm gonna look back at this and just be happy that we started. We're gonna put it up on the TV so have our popcorn. We're gonna be like, yeah. Oh god, are we really talking? Really though, and best belief we're gonna go to the movies and get that popcorn. Like Hello? Yeah, or the Public. Publix is a new one. Yeah, I still have yet to try it, but I'm gonna try it. Yeah, Publix, if you need some good popcorn that's well seasoned, not the I'm like, what are we talking about? But if you need some good popcorn, nicely buttered, seasoned very well, but it's not like movie theater prices, Publix got you. It's like $2.99. Yeah. For the low, low. For the low, for real. Low low. Whole bag. Did we think the friendship would last this long? I feel like my initial answer is yes, but then there might be like some doubt in that as well. Because the problem with me is that I feel like I'm always getting on everybody's nerves. Like, you know, sometimes, not sometimes, a majority of the time, I'm like, does this person like really actually mess with me for real? Or is this a facade? You know, like we can be kicking it and have a really good day, and then I'll go home and be like, dang, does she hate me? Did I say too much? You know, yeah, and that's like you start playing back things, and you're like, hmm. Yeah. I feel like that's just like a little bit of my anxiety taking over as far as like the overthinking. That's also what we have in common. We we anxiety knows us very well. We know anxiety very well, we know overthinking very well. Anxiety, it's very simple. And we'd be girl. There I go, knock that song for real. That song was everywhere. It's like you couldn't escape that song for a second. It's a cute song, yeah. But but yeah, no, anxiety, overthinking. But I always feel like wanted you in my life though. Yeah, there was never a point where I was like, didn't want you there and didn't want to have you by my side and to go through life with as like my best girlfriend, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, it's just like I'm going through whatever. Yeah, and I know she's gonna be there. And I think that's what I value so much about our friendship is that we don't need to talk every day to know that you're gonna be there. Because anytime you ever call me, except for if I'm like on an actual meeting, like I will always pick up. And even if I'm on a meeting that I don't need to be on, I'll turn that camera off real quick, mute my mic, and be like, Are you good? Is everything okay? Yeah, and then if it's all good, we just keep keen. I'll be like, Okay, let me call you back after this meeting, but like you know we can kick you on it. Exactly. So, but yeah, I don't know, I just appreciate that. Yeah, I did think it would last. I think the apprehension in me, um, like that would be more so fear-speaking that it wouldn't, but I always wanted it to. Yeah. So yeah. What about you? I think that in terms of just the school we went to, because it was very small, yeah. I think I knew that everybody I was gonna be, I was gonna know everyone for the rest of my life because we were all so very much so the rest of your life. Like I just knew, like, I would I would always know you. It's like a contract. Yeah. We signed a 360 deal. Yeah, look. We walked up in that school. We really sound so like what I mean It was a really fun time though. Yeah, it was a really fun time. Like I would just say Google it. No, and that would give you like computer. I mean, you've probably seen it. You've probably seen it on TikTok, on the shade. Instagram, all the stuff, yeah. But um, so yeah, I I think I knew that I would always know you in some capacity, and then it became more clear to me as we were friends that like you're not going nowhere. I'm not like where are you gonna go? You ain't got no choice, you ain't got no choice, like because it we it's just that's just how it evolved. Like, I started to invite you on family trips, yes, and it's like yeah, that's when everything like really changed. That's what I said, because it was like I'm no longer thinking of you as like, oh, this is my homegirl, it's my friend. Like, no, I genuinely think of you as an extension of my family, like you're my sister, and my family thinks the same way. And like my family constantly is asking, oh, how you doing? What's she doing? They know where you at, they know what you're doing. So it just I don't know. Did I think when I first met you that it would be this deep? I don't think I could have predicted it. Right, no. But I mean, we were like 10. Yeah, like I, you know, I really just couldn't have thought like that far. I don't even think I was thinking about all that. I'm thinking it was for lunch at the time. Exactly. But um, yeah, I could, I don't, I don't, I'm not shocked that it ended up where we ended up. Yeah. Because it just makes a lot of sense. It really does. Yeah. And I'm happy. I'm glad. Because I feel like we'll get into this, but we were like bound to meet one way or another. Yeah. So we sure work. Like that's so like mysterious. We're like, bubble, but we'll get into that later. So, what makes this friendship work? Because I feel like how we've grown together has kind of been discussed through us just keeping up with each other and being very intentional with like every single time that we've talked and being able to just be honest with each other, yeah, and have those conversations. Yeah, and I guess like what makes it work would be like the well, why is that the person that you call? You know, like I kept up with you, but why? And I think it just works because you're smart, like you're so smart. Girl, I always tell you. What? Oh my gosh. Girl, I always tell you, like, I well, I used to tell you, when I call you, I don't have to be worried. Yeah. You know, some friends, you gotta like you clutch your purse, hold your purse a little bit, you're like holding your breath. What are you up to? I'm talking about hold your purse, hold your breath, and you're like, ooh, like, all right, girl. And you constantly are like walking through walking them through a scenario, like, but and that's not a bad thing because I don't have a problem doing that, right? But for you, I feel like it was just your decisions make sense, and so seeing you lead your life, you know, confused or not confused, like I'm not saying you always had it figured out, but you always still kind of like had a clear path for yourself, and you just take yourself in life as seriously as I do, which made me feel like this is somebody that I can come to with like what I'm really feeling, yeah. I can trust that what she tells me, I'm really gonna sit and think about it. And this isn't some like ridiculous advice where it's like, okay, I wouldn't go to my homegirl for this type of advice, or I wouldn't go like some friends you compartmentalize, but for you, I feel like you're just well-rounded and you give really good advice and you make it fun at the same time. Like it's just like a person that you can you can just experience life with. Like I'm almost talking about you like you my like my partner, like you my wife or something. I'm like I can experience life for her. But no, seriously, because I I don't know, like when we were in middle school, we read this book called um which one in Miss Hodebrand's class. It was like the secret fan or the oh the secret no, you're not talking about Anne Frank. No, no, the one that we learned the definition of Laotong. Laotong, yes. I know what you're talking about. I don't remember the name, but I know what you're talking about. And yeah, it's like right at the tip of my tongue. But the it's the the name of the book isn't important, but what's important is we learned the definition of the term Lao Tong. Yeah. And it's it goes back in like ancient Chinese culture, I think, where women would be like almost bonded to another woman to like experience life with because life was, you know, way different than it looks like for women now. Like they would get their feet bound. Oh god. So crazy to think about. Uh uh. We don't gotta do that. No, I'm not looking at that. I'm not Googling it. You Google it. I mean, I feel like they teach that in schools, do they not? I don't know if they teach it in all schools. Okay. Because I, you know, sometimes we would learn things that it's not like necessarily standard curriculum. Yeah. But yeah, we started calling each other Lao Tong and everything. We started calling each other that. I think your name on my phone was that with the Chinese symbol next to it. For a long time. For a long time. But it was just like, yeah, this is somebody that I like we weren't born into the same family, but it almost feels like we just assigned each other to each other. Like, yeah, like soul assignments. You know? And we're like, well, girl, we in this. And kind of piggybacking off of what you said about what makes this friendship work is you know how you were talking about how you have some friends that you need to worry about. Yeah. I feel like a couple things, right? One, I never felt like I couldn't trust you. I think that's so important in a female friendship, especially that you're able to trust your friends. Like, I could tell you, and also you're not judgmental at all. I mean, we do have those friends we gotta worry about, but we can't judge them because they're all going through life together. Exactly. It's just, you know, it is what it is, very much so. And I felt like I could tell you anything, and it would just be like, okay, girl, well, what are you gonna do? Like, how are we gonna figure this out? And um, there's just so many things, like small things, that I just appreciate you doing, and uh I just felt like you're a person who I can always trust, and you're never going to judge me or whoever else isn't. I mean, you might judge whoever else is in the story, kind of having me messed up, but like but never you, right? But never me, and that's important, right? Exactly, exactly. And I just felt like I could always, always, always come to you. Like, there was no situation that was ever too crazy to a point where I didn't feel like I could talk to you about it. Like, there might be some that I'm like, oh, I can't talk to my mom or I can't talk to my sister, um, but I can talk to Kendall, and I know Kendall will get me, like she'll understand me. And also, you know, once you start to learn more about life, you realize that you really should not be taking advice from people who you cannot see yourself switching places with. Yeah, and absolutely you're a person who I would switch places with all the time. Yeah, like there's parts of your life that I'm like, oh, I actually could see that. Yeah, it's like you inspire me. And so because you inspire me when you actually speak about how you got somewhere, what you're doing, it makes me like, oh, let me let me lock in. Like, actually give me the pen. Like, let me write that down step by step step by step. Because it's like, yeah, like I just respect you. I think that that's what it is too. Like, yes, it is respect. Um, but also, yeah, like even the trust. Yeah, I really can't think of a time where I didn't trust that you cared about me, loved me, had my back, or tell you something, and it was like I don't have to doubt your intentions. Yeah. Like, is she actually going to be here for me? Or if I tell you a secret, are you actually gonna tell somebody? You know, it just never gave that. Yeah, I didn't ever have to worry about that with you. And you know, you inspire me every single day. Like some of the things and decisions that you've made in your life, even to just move across the country by yourself. I'm like, this girl, this girl, this girl crazy. What am I doing? What am I doing? But I'm gonna I'm gonna see you soon because I'm gonna be on that next flight, okay? It was multiple times. Multiple times, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Like there was times where I was mad that I couldn't go and I couldn't just pick up and I mean I could have, I guess now looking back, like forgive my obligations, but yeah, you know life, but I'm it's not it's not a short flight. It wasn't, and I think I doubted, like I underplayed. I think there was one time when I was on the plane going over to LA, that's where she was. And I think we were like two hours in, and I'm like, okay, how much longer? Okay, right? First two hours, you're cool, right? You're cool. Hour three, all right. Hour four. We still gotta weekend. Well, no, we're we're just going to the United States. Yeah. That's what really throws me, 'cause you really think, Oh, well, it's just like no. I underestimated it up until the day I moved away. Like there was no time I got on the flight that I was prepared to sit there for that long. Especially during the day. Like overnight, like sometimes I would do a red eye to go before them and that's fine. But but during the day, by the time 2 p.m. Atlanta time, it was a commitment. It was like by the time I got to LA, it was dang near 8 p.m. Yeah. Like, yeah. ATL time, mind you. It was like 3 p.m. there, but it was just like, okay. Yeah, then that was time switches. That was a whole different world out there. So different from Atlanta. But but yeah, I think that this friendship just works. And I think that like our actual souls, like down to a spiritual level, are also on an assignment. And uh we were meant to meet each other, like I said, in this lifetime and be able to help each other through this journey. And so there was no doubt that we were going to stay connected. There was no doubt that we were not gonna have each other because we need each other in order to get through this assignment in our lifetime. Oh god. And so, yeah, yeah, that's put so beautifully. Oh, thank you. Like, I have no notes, I have nothing to add because that's exactly how I feel. You said it so well. Every episode, we're going to be spotlighting a black-owned business of the week. And it's very important for us, I feel like, to support our community. Yeah. I think we're very community-driven people, and Atlanta is like full of them, full of them, like black Mecca for real. Yeah, 100%. And so just going out and doing our everyday thing, we're always, you know, in a in a new spot, in a new bookstore, in a new place, in a new uh coffee shop, yeah, you know, anything. And we were like, well, let's just make a segment to to highlight the people that are, you know, having their own brands and businesses and um storefronts and platforms in our community. Um, and so just speaking on the creation of this podcast, it took a lot to get here. Like we had to, we said we started planning this like a year ago. Yes. Just thinking about it. Just thinking about it. I was thinking like more so the concepts of us doing that. Yeah. But the actual like putting the pen to paper. You had to come up with the name and how often we're gonna meet and the logistics and everything. But one of the most major things is obviously like what's the cover? Like, girl, what's the what's the creative direction for this cover? Yes. And so we ended up uh going with this phenomenal photographer who I'll let Steph talk about for our first black-owned business of the week. Cue the sound effect. So we really want to shout out the photographer who goes by the name of One Shot John, and trust and believe it only takes one shot for him because when we found our shot, that was the shot. It was the shot. It was the university, you know? Yeah. So one shot John is an amazing photographer who does all sorts of different photography styles. He does the portrait styles, which is what we went with for the cover, but he's also actually done my graduation pictures as well. And um, I used him in undergrad, and you know, all the girlies were using him. I was like, who is this guy? Like, I was seeing graduation pictures that were fire, like evening graduation pictures. I don't know if you've seen evening graduation pictures, but I love those like with the lighting and like the effects and stuff. Yeah, I didn't go with that concept for mine, I just didn't think it worked very well. But the ones that I did see, I was like, wow, he is amazing. So one shot John um is really good. He also charges very reasonably, very reasonably. You know, some people go a little overboard, and I'm not one to you know knock your prices if you feel like you deserve that worth, you know, if you know your worth. But I also feel like sometimes it's a little bit overpriced, you know. I I don't know, but I did appreciate his prices, and he was very much so very easy to work with. He told us the poses that we needed to do, yeah, told us what okay, move your hair here, okay, smile like this. You know, it's just like you appreciate little things like that. And so he does graduation pictures as well. He does baby shower pictures, or I don't know if it was baby shower pictures, but more so like um like maternity shoes. Yeah, maternity shoes. Thank you. That I was like, what's the word for that? Maternity shoots. Honestly, anything that you really can like see a vision for, if you tell him your vision, he's gonna work with you. Like, we sent him some of our uh inspo picks for our cover, and he was like, Okay, cool, got it. And boom, we got that thing done, and he was amazing, and he was pretty quick, honestly. We were the ones that was taking a minute, but you know what? Hair, you know, makeup makeup, outfits. We booked one hour knowing good and well we needed to have booked two. We should have booked two hours. So if you anything like us, just go ahead and spin that extra bread for that extra hour because you know it's a hundred percent worth it, but and the pictures came back extremely timely, like within a week, pretty much. Yeah, um, maybe like a week and a day, but yeah, that was with the weekend, so you know, we don't really count the weekend as business days, so yeah. So one shot John is where it's at, especially if you're graduating right now. Please be sure. I think we have his website linked in the description. I'm pretty sure we should yeah, we'll link it below so that you can go and check that out and uh let us know what you think. Drop it in the comments. We'd love to hear how that experience went for you. And one shot if you're watching this, bless you. Thank you so much. Thank you so much because the cover is fire. Like, I'll be staring at that picture. Like, that's a joint slave. Like, okay. We were deciding on the cover and we were like scrolling through a couple, and every time we came back to that, we were like, I don't know, friend, like this is just giving. Like, you know, you start asking outside opinions and everything, but it was just like we both knew what it had to be. Because when they didn't give the answer that we wanted, we were like, You're but it's like, have you considered this one? And at that point, just obviously they considered that one. That was part of the ones they sent you. Hello, but there were also a lot of really good options to choose from, yes, which I think is important for a podcast, any brand, honestly, any brand to just have to just have different options for promo and stuff. So agreed, yeah. Shout out to one shot John, shout out one shot john, thank you for real. So it's already the end. Yeah, this is the end of our first episode, and at the end of every single episode, we're gonna have a segment called Walk Out because this is what we want you to walk out with for the episode. Honestly, before we even get into that, we never even told you why we named it Let Me Walk You Out. We didn't even touch on that. Shut up, we didn't, we didn't, and you know what? I touched on it a bit, but I didn't really touch on it because I said honest conversations and community, yeah. But that's like it's like low-key what it is. So envision like you hanging out with your homegirl, right? And y'all been talking all day, you at her house, you at movies, you at girls not out, whatever. Mm-hmm. And it's about that time, you know. Go ahead and start heading around black. Black people don't know how to say goodbye. So you've already tried to say goodbye a million times, but now the person has walked you out to the car. They're like, girl, let me walk you out. Let me walk you out to your car so I can make sure you get to your car safely. That's right outside my house. But yeah, you stand out there and you're talking for two more hours, but it's so necessary. Yes, you actually end up getting in the car because it's too cold outside. It's too cold outside in the actual girl, get in the car out there. Right, let's keep talking. But those be the realest conversations. Yeah. And that's where I just start telling you my whole life story from seriously. I really just start getting into everything that I feel like I should have told you when we was hanging out. Right. I'm like, actually. I should have told you this two hours ago in the restaurant. Right, right. But now that we're here, right now, now that we're here, it's always a oh girl, and did I tell you, oh, and then you know, so but it always comes back. Yes, it always comes full circle. And feel like, I can leave it here. Yeah, like I don't feel like I left anything on the table. I don't know. Sometimes I still do know. But at that point, like it's midnight, and yeah, it's like, okay, we really got texting you like, where you at? Where you at? You know, you know, got three phone calls. Right. When are you gonna be home? Oh, another 30 minutes, yeah. Another hour goes by. Right. I literally remember like the day that I told you about the name. Um, ironically, we were in LA, and I had wanted to start a podcast, but it just wasn't the time. Like, I just was doing my thing or was trying to do my thing with YouTube, just with the vlogs, and I was like, eventually, I want to get to the podcast, but yeah, I didn't know when that timeline was gonna be for real. And I remember when I came up with a name, I told you I was like, we were girl, my memory, you're gonna be like, girl, that's crazy. In your car, pulling into the Whole Foods parking lot in LA. That sounds so that's actually crazy. That's like so LA, but because I'm like, we went to Whole Foods, but I remember I was like, I finally found a name for the podcast that I want to start, and you were like, Oh, what is it? And I was like, it's gonna be called Let Me Walk You Out, and you were like, immediately you were like, I love it, that's brilliant. It's so good because it's unique, but it's not unique to the point where like it's a very common shared experience of like, yeah, walking you out, but then we standing by the car and we still talking. But it's also so unique because it's like, girl, who would even think to name a podcast that? Yeah, but it's like it works, it works, so and so it only made sense also to do that with her because I feel like she's also the only person that I feel like I have those let me walk you out moments with. Yeah, I really don't have them often, like I feel like that's trademarked to you, yeah. Um like, all right, girl, I'll see you later. Yeah, and it might be a little five-minute one-to-two, but you and I know how to stand there. To a point where other people be like, come on, y'all. Yeah, we gotta get dragged to the car. We like to get the car. Like they have to open up the door and like one car, but one car in the car. Like, it gets ridiculous. There's been times where like we're the last cars in the parking lot. It's just us standing there. Like, as women, first of all, you should never be doing that. Girl. So keep that head on a swivel. Yeah, and our heads do be on a swivel, they do, but we we are aware of our surroundings. Get in the car and go home, yeah. Maybe pick it up the next day. But it's maybe like pick up the phone. We just be standing there talking. It's so much different in person, you know. It is so so that's why we named the podcast that because that's really what we want this podcast to emulate. Yeah, is just that you you the third person in our conversation, yes, you are you're you're involved, and you know, yeah, and if you do have anything to add to the conversation, that's exactly why we have our social media channels too in the comments down below. Because, like, our main format is YouTube, because we are a video podcast, but at the end of the day, we will be sharing this and distributing our conversations, conversations through other social media channels as well. So if you have something to contribute, let us know, you know, down to topic suggestions and things like that, and we'll get into that in a second. But we want you to be a part of the conversation just like you're sitting here with us right now, yeah, and that's the whole point. And I guess that leads beautifully into what we went through to walk out with. And so, walk out, like I said, is something that we want to leave you with every single episode, uh, so that you have something that you can bring with you into the rest of the week, since you know this is gonna be drops on Wednesday. So, for the rest of the week, this is something that we just kind of wanted to leave with you, and it's more so about like a story of alignment. And I think we kind of talked a little bit before about how uh how we were always like destined to meet crazy stories, crazy, crazy, crazy. Um, but I also grew up in South Fulton, Georgia, more so towards the Fairburn area. I won't even call it Fairburn, honestly. That's just straight up South Fulton, like Union City. And so her granddad used to have a dental practice near Oz Pizza in Fairburn. And my mom and dad went to that practice because we used to live in Fairburn. Um, I ain't gonna drop the exact address, but I remember the name of the street. Um ironically, it had woods in it, so and my last name is Woods, so it was cute because of woods. That's why they chose the house. They were like, Maybe, well, this works, honestly, it's cute, could be woods on woods, right? Woods on woods for sure. But yeah, so they went to that dental practice, and that is pretty much where they got their teeth clean for years, and her mom worked as the receptionist, right? At the desk. So I think she was a receptionist or something like that, yeah, yeah, and so she was very familiar with my parents, like she knew my parents before I ever even knew about Kendall. Yeah, and I'm pretty sure you know her parents or her mom knew about me and my siblings before I knew about my mom said that. I can't remember if she said that you came in. Maybe you know what? I think she said you came in. I did, right? Because they had a rotary phone, the one, the dial that you have to. I remember vividly playing with that because I was like, Yes, you've said this before. Yes, yes, that's how I remember playing with that phone because I thought it was the coolest thing, but I was also like, How the heck do you call people on this thing? I just did not understand. Obviously, I did not understand it as like what an eight-year-old or something, but I still don't understand it as a 24-year-old. Like, I get it now. You have to hold it and then like four and then go to zero. Just give me my touch code at this point. We're spoiled now, obviously. But yeah, so and then I think we were on that cruise with your family when you figured it out. I don't know if I had ever told you before then, but your mom had brought it up, and I was like, Oh, yeah, while we're on the topic, let's talk about it. We were on that cruise, and her mom was basically talking about how she was there, she knew all about me and my siblings through my mom and my dad that went to her parents' dental practice, yeah, and that was just so insane to me. Yeah, and then it's like not even that much longer after, like a couple years later, maybe even a couple, like it's not the same year. Like nine, yeah. That was so what year did we get to RCA 2011? We would have been like doing the interviewing in 2010, yeah. So it was like wow, yeah, small world, but it literally, I mean, I feel like Atlanta is such a city, yeah, but then it's also so so much of a town, like you know, you will run into certain people again, you do, but it is kind of like, yeah, like we were destined to be friends because before we even knew each other, our parents knew of each other, and knew of me, and knew of you, you know, yeah, and of me. Like, my mom knew that your mom had kids and knew who you were, yeah, and your mom knew that my mom and dad, because she knew both of them, had kids and knew who we were. So, and that's that's starting the the generational cycle because literally our kids won't even have to be like, oh, do our parents know each other? Yeah, we are the ones that introduce you guys, but I feel like our kids are gonna be friends and their kids are gonna be friends. Like we d they don't start at something that will never end, I feel like. So love is beautiful, and I think too, like your grandma used to work at Delta, my mom works at Delta, yeah, you know, it's just like so many different similarities that's like yeah, it was just destined to happen, and I think that goes to the point of more so alignment, like in life and knowing when you are in those spaces and places of alignment, and I feel like whenever we're with each other and our whole friendship and our whole story in general is just a path and a story of alignment that makes us just feel very yeah together to very in sync, I guess is the best word to describe it. Yeah, sounds like that's a good way to describe it, yeah. So that's you know, overall, that's us, and that's just kind of what we want this podcast to again. That's the vibe. Like we're speaking on alignment, walking in your truth, yeah, um, but also having fun and being there for each other and celebrating womanhood, young womanhood, and figuring it out as two women who are, you know, early in their careers, early in figuring this thing out very early called life, living in Atlanta, and just having a time. So um, we look forward to to seeing you all next week. Yes. Um my god, so much next time episode one in the book.
